'Harvest' : Longlisted for Hachette's Richell Prize (2026)

I missed a call, and the text-to-speech message said 'from Hasheth'. I thought, hasheth... hasette... hachette?? Lo and behold, my passion project Harvest got longlisted for the Richell Prize from Hachette (AU) and Emerging Writers Festival.
It only just started to hit me a few days after finding out (and after the public announcement), and I'm so incredibly grateful to all those who shaped me and my writing over the years. To be a part of the longlist of 24, whittled down from 1022 submissions, is incredibly surreal and it's an honour the judges thought Aletheia and Erasmia's story rife with feminist-coded rage deserved a spot.

Regardless of where this goes, I know that these characters have a long journey ahead of them. They have so much to say, and I cannot wait til you get to hear it.
In a barren world, what would society look like if women literally bore fruit?

Harvest is the answer to that question.
Harvest was initially informed by research from, and created for (in short form), my master’s dissertation on feminist-coded rage in dystopian fantasy. From the 4,300-word short story an estimated to be 90,000-word dark, body horror, dystopian fantasy manuscript bloomed.
